Senior Care Services Across the Greater Toronto Area

When a parent starts needing more help than the family can manage alone, the search for senior care services can feel like a maze. There are government programmes with waitlists, residential communities with long admission processes, and a confusing mix of agencies all promising different things. S Care Companion keeps it simple. We provide private-pay, in-home personal support worker (PSW) care to seniors across the Greater Toronto Area — no referral, no eligibility screening, and no waitlist. Speak to a Care Coordinator at 437-233-9425 and we'll talk through what's hardest right now and how we can help.

In-Home Senior Care Services — What S Care Companion Provides

S Care Companion is a private home care agency that connects GTA families with trained, background-checked PSWs who come to your loved one's home. Because we operate on a private-pay basis, families contact us directly and care can begin as soon as the same day or the following morning. There's no assessment queue to join and no wait while paperwork moves through a system.

Our senior care services cover the full range of non-medical, hands-on support that keeps older adults safe and comfortable at home — from help with bathing and dressing to companionship, household tasks, overnight supervision, and post-hospital recovery. Care is fully customisable. You can book a few hours a week, daily visits, overnight shifts, live-in arrangements, or round-the-clock support, and adjust as needs change.

We run the GTA from our Brampton headquarters at 4515 Ebenezer Rd, Suite #203, Brampton, ON L6P 2K7, and serve families across 14 municipalities. Whether you're searching for in-home senior care or elder care services near you, the starting point is the same conversation: tell us what's going on, and we'll explain what fits.

How Our Senior Care Differs from OHAH and Long-Term Care

Families weighing senior care options in Ontario generally face three routes, and it helps to understand how they differ.

Publicly funded home care through Ontario Health atHome (formerly LHIN/HCCSS) provides a limited number of personal support hours at no direct cost — but access requires an assessment, eligibility screening, and often a wait. Long-term care homes offer residential, facility-based living for seniors who can no longer remain at home, typically after an application and admission process. Both are valuable for the right circumstances.

Private-pay in-home care, which is what S Care Companion provides, sits between these options. You book directly, care starts quickly, and your parent stays in their own home with support shaped entirely around their routine. There's no eligibility cap on hours and no waitlist. For families who need help now, or who want more hours than the public system allows, private-pay in-home care fills the gap.

S Care Companion is a PSW-only agency. We do not employ or place registered nurses, RPNs, LPNs, or any other regulated health professionals. Our focus is personal support — the daily, hands-on help that lets seniors stay safely at home.

Our Senior Care Service Categories

S Care Companion offers eight in-home service tiers. Most families start with one and expand as needs grow.

Hands-on help with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, continence support, and mobility. Our personal care PSWs preserve dignity while keeping daily routines safe and consistent. For seniors who are isolated or lonely, our companion care provides conversation, shared activities, outings, and a reliable, friendly presence that lifts the whole household.

A clean, organised home reduces falls and stress, so our homemaking support covers light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and keeping living spaces tidy and comfortable. Getting to appointments, groceries, and the pharmacy gets harder with age, so our PSWs help with errands and transportation so seniors stay connected to their community and their routines.

Family caregivers need breaks to stay healthy. Our respite care gives you time to rest, work, or recharge while a vetted PSW steps in with the same care you'd provide yourself. For seniors who shouldn't be alone, our live-in and 24-hour care provides continuous, around-the-clock support — whether that's an overnight presence or full-day coverage built around complex needs.

Recovery at home is safest with the right support. Our convalescent care helps seniors transition from hospital to home, with assistance during the fragile first days and weeks back. And because people living with cognitive decline rely on familiar faces and calm routines, our dementia care PSWs provide the patient, steady presence that makes home feel safe.

How to Choose the Right Senior Care Services

If you're unsure where to begin, start with what's hardest right now. Is bathing becoming unsafe? Is your parent lonely during the day? Are you lying awake worried about overnight falls? Is the house getting away from them? Naming the most pressing problem usually points to the right starting tier.

Most families don't need everything at once. They begin with a single service — a few hours of personal care, or companionship a couple of afternoons a week — and add more as circumstances change. Because our PSWs are trained across the full range of support, the same caregiver can often flex between tiers. That means as your parent's needs grow, you usually don't have to introduce a new face. Consistency stays intact even when the care plan expands.

When you call, a Care Coordinator will walk through your situation and recommend a starting point. There's no pressure to commit to more than you need.

Vetted, Caring PSWs Across the GTA

The quality of senior care comes down to the people who provide it. Every PSW on our roster has completed college-level PSW training (following the Ontario PSW Program Standard delivered through Ontario's career and community colleges), passed a Vulnerable Sector police check, and holds current First Aid and CPR certification. Personal Support Workers are not regulated in most Canadian provinces, which is why our internal vetting standards matter — the bar is whatever the agency chooses to set, and we set it high.

We also match caregivers based on personality and communication style. Before confirming a placement, we ask about language, communication preferences, and daily routine, because a good personal fit matters as much as a strong résumé. S Care Companion carries general liability insurance covering all placements, and is WSIB-compliant. When someone enters your parent's home, you deserve to know exactly who they are and that they're properly covered.

What Senior Care Costs in the GTA

Private in-home senior care in the GTA typically runs $25 to $35 per hour CAD as a market estimate (not S Care's published rate). Cost varies by service tier — companion care usually sits at the lower end, while live-in and 24-hour arrangements are structured differently. For context, Ontario PSWs themselves earn a median wage of $22 per hour per Job Bank Canada NOC 44101, with the Toronto Region median at $21.

Pricing depends on how much support is needed, how often visits occur, and the shift structure. For a full breakdown, see our guide to the cost of in-home senior care in Ontario. All S Care Companion services are billed in CAD, and we aim to be transparent about pricing from the first conversation — no hidden fees, no ambiguity about what's included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Senior care is the umbrella term for the support services older adults use to stay safe and independent. In-home senior care delivers that support at the client's own home. The same term can also refer to retirement communities or long-term care homes, which are different, facility-based models. S Care Companion provides the in-home PSW tier.
